Organic blobs that merge like liquid mercury, coloured by a gradient
Blobs that behave like drops of mercury: as they drift near each other they bulge and fuse into one smooth mass, then stretch apart again. It's the classic lava-lamp / liquid-goo look, built from soft fields of influence rather than hard shapes.
