Directional Blur

Smears the layers below along one axis, into motion-blur streaks

An ordinary blur averages each pixel with the neighbours all around it. This one averages along a single line instead, so everything draws out into streaks pointing the same way — the trail a long exposure leaves behind a moving light, or the drag of a squeegee through wet ink. It reads as speed even on something perfectly still, and the cursor can steer which way it pulls.
