God Rays
Shafts of light thrown by the bright parts of the layers below
The shafts of light you see when the sun breaks through cloud, or through a gap in a doorway — the beams themselves are dust and haze catching the light on its way past whatever is blocking it. This one is built out of your own artwork: it decides which parts of the layers below are bright enough to count as light, then streaks them away from a point you can drag, so a word, a shape or a hole in a mask is what throws the rays. Point it somewhere dark and nothing happens, which is the honest answer — there is no light there to scatter.
I. Made with God Rays
II. Everything else
- 2D Light — A positioned light over the layers below — glow or spotlight
- Beam — A beam of light over your scene — line, cross, star, ring, triangle or viewport frame
- Bloom — Soft glow on the brightest areas
- Cast Light — Daylight through leaves, a blind or a window — warm where it lands, cool in the shade
- Vignette — Shade the frame edges, or cut them away so the layers below show through
