Glass Shatter
Breaks the layers below into shards of glass that catch the light
Put the picture behind a pane of glass and hit it. Cracks run out from the point of impact and rings of cracks cross them, or the whole pane gives way at once into plates; the loose pieces lift, tip and slide apart, so each one shows a slightly different part of the picture. The light is what sells it: every crack has a bevel that shines on the side facing the light and goes dark on the other, and a tipped shard flashes as the light passes over it. Orbit the light, or let it follow the cursor, and the glints travel across the break. Clip it to a picture and the gaps open onto whatever is underneath.
I. Made with Glass Shatter
II. Everything else
- Blinds — Displace the image into banded slats — linear, radial or tiled
- Bulge — Swells the layers below outward from a point, or squeezes them in
- Cloth — Hangs the layers below like fabric in the wind — a flag, a banner, a curtain
- Cylinder — Wraps the layers below around a turning drum, with repeats and shading
- Droste — Nests the layers below inside themselves forever, and zooms through them
- Echo — Repeats the layers below as a stepped run of hard-edged copies
- Envelope — Fits the layers below into a band with a bent top and bottom — type on a slope
- Fluid — A stirred fluid simulation that paints the frame and drags the layers below it
- Kaleidoscope — Mirrors the layers below into slices that meet at a point
- Lens Distort — Fisheye / pincushion lens warp with zoom and chromatic fringing
- Mouse Trail — Displaces the layers below along a fading trail of the cursor
- Noise Warp — Liquid noise displacement of the layers below
- Reflective Floor — Mirrors the layers below onto a glossy floor under a horizon line
- Smudge — Drags the layers below through a viscous current, like paint pushed while wet
- Tile — Repeat the layers below across a grid
- Twirl — Twists the layers below into a spiral around a point
