Drags the layers below through a viscous current, like paint pushed while wet

This is the melted, liquified look: the picture gets carried along an invisible current instead of just nudged sideways. Each point takes several small steps and re-reads the current after every one, so it curls around the eddies and draws itself out into long ribbons — the way paint moves when you drag a finger through it while it's still wet. Swirl decides whether the current pools and pinches or stirs in whirlpools, and the cursor can push the paint around itself.
